Seismic on FactMaps and FactPages

The FactMaps and the FactPages gives and overview of seismic acquisition activity. For efficient use it is a great advantage to understand how the menus works.
FactMaps
Start the map focused on the
- Norwegian Continental Shelf here
- North Sea here
- Norwegian Sea here
- Barents Sea here
If you experience problems with the links above to start the first time,
exit the Internet browser and try again or use the refresh button - F5.
- Lines indicates 2D seismic
- Outlines (polygons) indicates that there is another acquisition than 2D done (3D, OBS/4C, electromagnetic or geotechnical / drilling site survey)
Use (zoom in) to get a smaller area.
Use (zoom out) to get a larger area.
Use the (pan) to move the map using the same scale.
Use (magnifying glass) when you wish to see the map for the whole Norwegian continental shelf.
In the picture that now appears on the screen - note that:
- Under Seismic acquisition only Net areas is showing (excluding areas turn area of the seismic vessel, ie specifying the actual area or the lines where the seismic data is collected)
You can also see:
- Turn area. Turn on Gross areas press Refresh map.

More information on each survey (boats, a fishery expert, coordinates etc). First check that the green button is depressed in front of Seismic acquisition. Then press the 'Information' button. Dependent on the situation, several things could now happen (be aware that some of these questions may be hidden behind the current window)
- You could be asked if you also want to see the unsecure elements (answer Yes)
- You could be asked if you only want to see the secure elements (answer No)
- In some cases, a new window listing surveys will appear. This is because many surveys meets the point you have pressed.
Now FactPages starts up. Se below for description.
Tip:
- Inclusive turn area. When showing Gross areas, many surveys could be inside of each other. It can be difficult to see how which label belongs to which survey. Try then to zoom in, zoom out or pan.
Legend. Press this button in the menu to get an overview of the symbols representing the different phases. Press the button again to return to the original list.
- Blocks and quadrants. Although Blocks and Quadrants are turn on these will not always show. This is depending on the scale of the map.
Press this button in the menu to make a good print in PDF format of the map.
You will get a red frame that can be extended by pulling the red arrow with your mouse.
Be careful to move the mouse in the direction of the arrow to expand the area. You can also move the area by placing your mouse inside the frame and drag.
- Searching. You can search for a special survey name by using the NPD Map Search - in the upper right corner. Select Seismic acquisition and then the survey you want.
FactPages
Seismic surveys are on version 2 of the pages.
Start FactPages v2 by clicking here.
Click on Seismic / Page view / Ongoing .
All the surveys ongoing are now listed. Click on the top survey.
In the picture that now appears on the screen - note:
- Window. There are three parts in the window that appears. The menu is in two parts on the left, information about the survey appears in part to the right.
- Details. You can Hide details and just seeing the headlines. Show details display all information.
Tip:
- Printing. To print all information about a survey, use the Export to PDF and then print the information.
You can also see:
· Map. To see the map of the survey, click Map. Facts Maps will then be started, and it will be centered around the selected survey. The selected survey will have a turquoise frame around it. If the window is too small, maximize and press the Refresh Map.
