Wellbore history

General

Well 34/7-34 A is a sidetrack on 34/7-34, drilled on theVigdis Nord&st prospect located centrally in Block 34/7 on the Tampen Spur in the northern North Sea. As an oil down to situation was encountered in the main well bore, the sidetrack was drilled to determine the OWC.

Operations and results

Appraisal well 34/7-34 A kicked off from cement plug number 3 at 2120 m in main well 34/7-34 on 10 March 2009. It was drilled deviated downflank on the structure to TD at 3022 m (2733 m TVD) in the Late Triassic Lunde Formation. No significant technical problems occurred in the operations. The well was drilled with Low ECD oil based mud from kick-off to TD.

In the sidetrack the pressure points obtained indicated an oil gradient which is the same as in the main bore and a water gradient of 1.03 g/cm3. Due to the poor quality of some of the pressure measurements obtained in the water zone, there is uncertainty in the free water level and the best estimate based on the pressure points is approximately 2631 m (2600 m TVD MSL).

No cores were cut and no wire line fluid samples were taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 20 March 2009 as an oil appraisal.
