15/08/2011 The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted OMV Norge AS a drilling permit for well 6407/5-2 S in the Norwegian Sea, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.
Well 6407/5-2 S will be drilled from the Borgland Dolphin drilling facility at position 64°35’4.4” north and 7°36’48.7” east after completing drilling of wildcat well 31/8-1 for E.On Ruhrgas Norge in production licence 416.
The drilling program for wellbore 6407/5-2S concerns the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 471. OMV Norge AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 50 per cent. The other licensees are Norwegian Energy Company ASA (30 per cent) and Sagex Petroleum Norge AS (20 per cent). The area in the licence consists of the blocks 6407/2 and 6407/5. The well will be drilled about ten kilometres west of the Mikkel field.
Production licence 471 was awarded on 29 February 2008, in APA 2007. This is the first well to be drilled in the licence.
The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
