6604/5-1

23/11/2017 The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Wintershall Norge AS a drilling permit for well 6604/5-1, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 6604/5-1 will be drilled from the West Phoenix drilling facility, at position 66°35' 37.43" North and 04°32' 56.54" East.

The drilling programme for well 6604/5-1 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 894. Wintershall Norge AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 per cent. The other licensees are Statoil Petroleum AS (40 per cent) and Petoro AS (20 per cent).

The area in this licence consists of a part of block 6604/5. The well will be drilled about 120 kilometres southwest of the Aasta Hansteen field.

Production licence 894 was awarded on 10 February 2017 (APA 2016). This is the first well to be drilled within the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing drilling activities.
