Drilling permit for well 6604/5-2 S in production licence 894

23/12/2019 The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Wintershall Dea Norge AS a drilling permit for well 6604/5-2 S, cf. Section 15 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 6604/5-2 S will be drilled from the Scarabeo 8 drilling facility in position 66°36'33.48"N and 4°35'34.30"E after concluding the drilling of wildcat well 6604/6-1 for Wintershall Dea Norge AS in production licence 894.

The drilling programme for well 6604/5-2 S relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in production licence 894. Wintershall Dea Norge AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 per cent. The other licensees are Equinor Energy AS (40 per cent) and Petoro AS (20 per cent).

The area in this licence consists of part of block 6604/5. The well will be drilled about 120 kilometres southwest of the Aasta Hansteen field.

Production licence 894 was awarded on 10 February 2017 (APA 2016). This is the third well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent on the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
