15/04/2003 Press release no. 7/2003: Marathon Petroleum Norge A/S, operator of production license 203, has completed drilling of wildcat well 25/4-7.

The well was drilled on a prospect in the Paleocene (Early Tertiary) Age called Kneler.  The prospect is located about 13 km west-southwest of the Heimdal field, between the 25/4-3 Gekko and 24/6-2 Kameleon discoveries.  Water depth at the well location was 119 m.  The well was drilled to a total depth of 2263 m below the sea surface.

The well proved approx. 48 m of oil in sand from the Heimdal formation.  Geophysical measurements and pressure measurements from the borehole, as well as samples of the oil, are now being evaluated by the operator.  The results of these examinations, as well as two additional wells that are planned in the near future, will be important elements in the owners' plans for development of the area.

Drilling on the Kneler prospect was carried out by the Deepsea Bergen rig.  The drilling rig will continue work for Marathon in the Heimdal area, and will now drill well 24/6-3 on the Boa prospect about 7 km further west in production license 088BS.
