24/05/2004 Press release no. 10/2004: 6608/11-4 - wildcat well completed on the Linerleprospect northeast of Norne.

Statoil ASA, operator of production licence 128, blocks 6608/10 and 6608/11, located about 175 km off the coast of Helgeland, has completed drilling of wildcat well 6608/11-4.

The well was drilled on a prospect called Linerle, which is located about 25 km northeast of the Norne field. The well was drilled in a sea depth of 342 meters to a total depth of 2281 meters under the sea surface in rocks of the Late Triassic Age.

Extensive collection of cores, logging and fluid samples have been carried out, and oil was proven in sandstone from the Lower Jurassic Age. Assessments are currently being made of the information from the well in order to estimate the size of the discovery.

Drilling was carried out by the drilling vessel West Navigator, with a total drilling period of 24 days. The vessel left the location on Sunday, 23 May 2004.
