02/07/2008 Press Release 35/2008: Talisman Energy Norge AS, operator av production licence 369, has concluded drilling of wildcat well 32/2-1.  The well, which was dry, is situated about 20 km east of the Troll field in the North Sea.

The purpose of the well was to prove petroleum in Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks.  The well is dry, however, reservoir rocks of medium thickness and satisfactory reservoir quality were encountered in the Upper Jurassic.  The well is the first exploration well in production licence 369, which was awarded in January 2006 in connection with APA 2005.  The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 1274 metres below the sea surface, and was concluded in the Lower Jurassic.  The water depth at the site was 351 metres.  The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.
Well 32/2-1 was drilled by the drilling facility Transocean Winner, which was operated by StatoilHydro on behalf of Talisman.  The rig will now proceed to production licence 048 in the North Sea to drill appraisal well 15/5-7 where StatoilHydro Petroleum AS is the operator.
