06/03/2008 Press release 15/2008StatoilHydro Petroleum AS, operator of production licence 169, has completed the drilling of wildcat well 25/11-25 A. The well was located just to the southwest of the Grane Field, 160 kilometres west of Karmøy.

The purpose of the well was to prove petroleum in Lower Jurassic reservoir sandstone. The well was dry. Reservoir development was encountered in Jurassic rocks.

The well is the 14th exploration well in production licence 169. The licence was awarded in 1991 in the 13th licensing round with Norsk Hydro as operator. The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 2057 metres below the sea surface and was completed in Jurassic rocks.

The sea depth at the site is 125 metres. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 25/11-25 A was drilled by the semi-submersible drilling facility Transocean Winner which will now drill wildcat well 30/9-21 S on the Oseberg Field.
