08/10/2008 Press release 52/2008: StatoilHydro Petroleum AS, operator of production licence 089, is in the process of concluding drilling on wildcat well 34/7-33, which was dry. The well is located 4.5 km from the Tordis field and 7 km from the Vigdis field.

The purpose of the well was to prove hydrocarbons in sandstone in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks.

This is the 33rd wildcat well in production licence 089, which was awarded in the 8th licensing round in 1984.

Wildcat well 34/7-33 was drilled to a total depth of 2592 m below the sea surface, and concluded in Middle Jurassic rocks. The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 34/7-33 was drilled by the Ocean Vanguard drilling facility, which will now proceed to production licence 128 to drill exploration well 6608/10-12, operated by StatoilHydro.
