11/08/2008 Press release 41/2008: BG Norge AS, operator of production license 373 S, is completing exploration well 34/3-1 S in the North Sea. The well, located north-east of the Snorre field in the northern North Sea, proved an oil accumulation in a reservoir of Jurassic age.
A comprehensive data acquisition programme has been carried out. The resource potential will now be evaluated with a side-track.
The well was drilled with the semi-submersible Bredford Dolphin in a water depth of 410 meters to a total vertical depth of 4057 meter below sea level and completed in the Triassic.
Production license 373 S was awarded in the Awards in Pre-defined Areas (APA) licensing round in 2005.
The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned following the sidetrack. The Bredford Dolphin rig will then move to PL 338 and drill appraisal well 16/1-8 for Lundin.
