15/12-22

10/05/2010 Det norske oljeselskap ASA, operator of production licence 337, is in the process of completing the drilling of wildcat well 15/12-22. The well, which was drilled about 15 kilometres southeast of the Sleipner East field in the North Sea, is dry.

The primary exploration target for the well was to prove petroleum in Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Varg formation). The secondary exploration target was to prove petroleum in the Lower to Middle Paleocene (Heimdal and Ty formations).  The well encountered reservoir rocks with the expected reservoir quality in the Upper Jurassic. No reservoir sandstones belonging to the Heimdal or Ty formations from the Paleocene Age were encountered.

This is the third exploration well in production licence 337. The licence was awarded in APA 2004.

15/12-22 was drilled to a vertical depth of 3035 metres below the sea surface, and was terminated in the Skagerrak formation in the Upper Triassic. The water depth at the site is 84 metres. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 15/12-22 was drilled by the Bredford Dolphin drilling facility.
