33/6-3 S

25/07/2012 Suncor Energy Norge AS, operator of production licence 375 B, has completed the drilling of appraisal well 33/6-3 on the 34/4-11 (Beta) oil discovery.

The 34/4-11 (Beta) discovery was proven in 2010 and is located about 20 kilometres northwest of the Snorre field in the North Sea. Before well 33/6-3 S was drilled, the resource estimate for the discovery was between 7 and 40 million Sm3 recoverable oil.

The objective of well 33/6-3 S was to delineate a separate structure southwest of the 34/4-11 discovery. The well encountered reservoir rocks in the Statfjord formation from the Early Jurassic Age, with reservoir quality as expected. However, the well was dry. Data acquisition and sampling have been carried out.

This is the first exploration well in production licence 375 B, which was awarded as additional acreage to PL 375 in APA 2010.

The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 4171 metres below the sea surface, and was terminated in the Lunde formation from the Late Triassic Age.

Water depth at the site is 332 metres. The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned.

The well was drilled by the Songa Delta drilling facility, which will now proceed to the Coast Centre Base at Ågotnes.
