Amendments to the petroleum regulations

31/12/2009 The handling fee for applications relating to production licences, applications relating to exploration licenses and seismic surveys carried out under the aforementioned licenses is amended effective 1 January 2010.

In accordance with the Regulations relating to amendments to the Regulations of 27 June 1997 No. 653 to the Act relating to petroleum activities of 18 December 2009, the following fee rates shall apply for applications relating to production licences, applications relating to exploration licenses as well as the handling fee for seismic surveys under the aforementioned licenses.


Section 9 of the Petroleum Regulations - handling fee

For the handling of each application for a production licence, a fee of NOK 109.000 shall be paid to the State via the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

A handling fee of  NOK 109.000 shall therefore be paid for each individual application for a production licence. For group applications (one joint application), one fee shall be paid, as before. If the fee has not been paid, the application will not be regarded as received.


Section 5 of the Petroleum Regulations - payment for the exploration license

In respect of an exploration licence, a fee amounting to NOK 65.000 per calendar year shall be paid in advance to the State via the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.


Section 5, third subsection, first sentence and Section 9, third subsection, first sentence of the Petroleum Regulations

For every seismic survey under the aforementioned licenses, a fee of NOK 33.000 shall be paid to the State via the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. The fee shall be paid before the commencement of the survey. One fee shall be paid for one seismic survey, also in those cases where the survey takes place in more than one license area.
