Contributing to report on safety in the petroleum activities
29/09/2017 Today, a multipartite work group is submitting its report on safety in the petroleum industry to Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Anniken Hauglie. The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) is one of the contributors.
“All relevant employee and employer organisations have participated in the group, in addition to the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway and the NPD. The work has been ongoing all year,” says Arne Holhjem, who served as the NPD’s representative.
He says that the report will help form the basis for a Storting Report on safety in the petroleum activities. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is planning to present the report to the Storting (Norwegian parliament) in 2018.
The NPD has emphasised areas such as resource management, value creation and cost/benefit value of new measures. Other important topics have included technology, digitalisation and cooperation.
“One may not immediately associate these topics with safety, but they are still important in the big picture,” says Holhjem.
