Here are the key regulations relating to resource management in the petroleum activities and for storage and transport of CO2 on the continental shelf. These regulations fall under the authority of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate and consist of statutes, overarching regulations and regulations stipulated by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has stipulated regulations relating to resource management in the petroleum activities (Resource Management Regulations), regulations relating to measurement of petroleum for fiscal purposes and for calculation of CO2, (Measurement Regulations) and regulations relating to material and documentation in connection with exploration for and exploitation of subsea reservoirs on the continental shelf for storage of CO2, (regulations relating to documentation in connection with storage of CO2 on the shelf).
These regulations have been stipulated pursuant to and in accordance with the Petroleum Act, the CO2 Tax Act and the Act relating to subsea natural resources. They supplement the provisions in these three statutes and in the Regulations relating to the Petroleum Act, as well as the Regulations relating to storage and transport of CO2 on the shelf.
Other relevant regulations for the petroleum activities can be found on the websites of the respective authorities, or from Lovdata.
