The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate submits for consultation a proposal to amend Regulation 27 June 1997 no. 653 to the Petroleum Act (pf.) 39 first paragraph.
The change involves adjusting the area-fee rates for production licences awarded pursuant to the 1972 Resolution and the Petroleum Act.
The basis for the adjustment is the Statistics Norway (SSB) consumer price index. The proposal is to adjust the rates in Section 39 (1) of the Petroleum Regulations by 18.02%, effective from 1 January 2024. The new rates are expected to increase:
First year: from NOK 38 000 per km2 per year to NOK 45 000 per km2 per year
Second year: from NOK 76 000 per km2 per year to NOK 90 000 per km2 per year
Third year: from NOK 153 000 per km2 per year to NOK 181 000 per km2 per year
Subsequent years: from NOK 153 000 per km2 per year to NOK 181 000 per km2 per year
