24/03/2023 Have you remembered to sign up for the NPD Technology Day in Stavanger on 7 June?

Technology Day is primarily for those of you who work for the resource management authorities and licensees on the Norwegian shelf.

“We have a strong technical programme lined up, with highly qualified speakers. Just like last year, we’re hoping for good discussions and enthusiastic attendees,” comments technology coordinator Arvid Østhus.

The objective of the event is to illustrate how utilising technology can result in increased value creation on the shelf. The agenda is based on the three commitment areas in the NPD’s technology strategy: collecting subsurface data, challenging barrels and next-generation production systems.

Representatives from companies on the shelf will share their experiences and perspectives within these areas – followed by time for questions and comments.

Here’s the agenda in short form:

  • Introduction, Arvid Østhus, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate
  • Why are the authorities so interested in technology? Gaute Erichsen, Ministry of Petroleum and Energy
  • Advances in seismic imaging and prediction of thin sand injectites, TBD, Vår Energi
  • Borehole Image Logs – enormous volumes of data from one little borehole, Dr Brita Graham, Equinor
  • Effective use of EM data: 3D vs. 2D, Dr Martin Springer, Aker BP
  • Pilot project for Coiled tubing drilling on Ekofisk, Fredrik Fossan and Anna Fordar, ConocoPhillips
  • New technology – "Single-trip Multi-frac", Marius Berge-Skillingstad, Equinor
  • Smart well solutions for recovery from Heidrun’s deep formations, Elling Sletfjerding, Equinor
  • Hywind Tampen Gullfaks – Coordinating wind power plants and gas power plants, Bjarne Monsen, Equinor
  • Development of underwater drones, Andy Gower, TotalEnergies
  • Experience and strategy for 3D printing and digital supply networks, Brede Lærum, Equinor
  • Summary and closing, Arne Jacobsen, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate
